The Farmington Hills Economic Development Corporation proudly
collaborates with Farmington Public Schools to offer a mentoring program
for middle school students (ages 11-14). Mentors are made up of local
business and community leaders that volunteer to meet with the students
ten to twelve times during the school year. Students participating in
the mentor program are selected based on recommendations from teachers,
counselors, and the principal.
Meetings between the mentors and students take place at school and
the worksite and usually last about two hours. Meetings include sharing
information about careers, discussing career paths and employability
skills, school performance and attitudes.
The 2007/08 will be the 8th year of this worthwhile program. If you
are interested in participating please contact MaryBeth SiKora at
Farmington Public Schools: (248) 426-4876.
