MRPA Michigan Youth Symposium
Date: April 4th-5th
Description: This annual symposium was a chance for us as a
council to meet with other youth councils from around Michigan
and discuss the issues that we have in common. We network with
the other teens, attend teaching sessions taught by the various
councils, and learn new ideas about how to run a youth council.
This year the symposium was held at the Warren Community Center.
Middle-School Leadership Training Camp
Date: May 30th - June 1st
Description: This training camp will be geared towards incoming
freshman and other middle-schoolers anxious about entering high
school.
MYC members and other helpers will help to run the event,
holding sessions and giving testimonials about what high school
is like. It is a great opportunity to help middle-schoolers to
prepare well for this big upcoming change.
Relay for Life
Date: May 30th - June 1st
Description: This event will help to raise awareness about
cancer and give MYC members a chance to show their support by
walking their talk!
Details are still to be announced depending on feedback from the
council.
Thrive Festival
Date: June 7th
Description: This massive concert and one day family festival
(including 40+ bands and 20+ activities) is one of the biggest
upcoming events in Farmington Hills. It is cheap (Adult/Teen $8
advance/$10 at door, Youth 6-12 $5, Under 5 Free) and will be
amazingly fun, with stuff like open skating, inflatable games,
skateboarding, food, video games, dodgeball, disc golf, and a
whole lot more!
