The Central Services Department provides professional services in the areas of Purchasing, Information Technology, GIS, Telecommunications and Mailing Services.

Purchasing Division

The City of Farmington Hills operates under a centralized purchasing system. The Purchasing Division is responsible for obtaining all products and services required for daily operation of the city, formally receiving sealed bids, quotations and monitoring contractual services and budgets.

The City of Farmington Hills is a founding member of the Michigan Intergovernmental Trade Network (MITN), a centralized web-based e-procurement system that provides a single point of contact for vendors to access new business opportunities throughout our region.

Michigan Inter-governmental Trade NetworkMITN provides vendors:

  • 24-hour access to business opportunities
  • Instant electronic notification and document delivery
  • Notification based upon the vendor’s designated product or service
  • Vendor-managed system registration
  • Bid tabulations

Information Technology Division

The Information Technology staff provides technical support and maintenance of information systems.

Geographic Information Systems Division (GIS)

GIS staff provides digital mapping resources and assistance for City divisions and departments.

Telecommunications

Central Services staff manages all telecommunications systems including wired, wireless and contracted services.

Mail Services

Central Services staff manage internal and external mailing for all City departments through a centralized mailroom.
