City Manager Steve Brock is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the City, including overseeing all departments and implementing City policies that are approved by City Council.

Steve Brock came to the City of Farmington Hills as an Assistant to the City Manager in 1989, became Assistant City Manager in 1993 and was appointed by City Council as City Manager in 1998. He previously served as Northville Township Manager, Village Administrator for Hortonville, Wisconsin, and as an Economic Analyst for the State of Wisconsin. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin.

As City Manager, his first priority is customer service. “We treat people well and we listen to them,” says Brock. Economic development is also high on his priority list. Steve Brock can be reached at (248) 871-2500 or via email.

Dave Boyer was appointed Assistant City Manager in 2012 after serving 14 years as the City’s Director of Special Services. He is responsible for coordinating activities among City departments, and serves as the liaison to citizen groups, and local, state, and federal officials. He also resolves citizen complaints and coordinates special projects and research studies. He is a graduate of Northern Michigan University and was previously employed as Deputy Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Southfield.

Nate Geinzer, Management Assistant

Assistant to the City Manager

Nate Geinzer, Assistant to the City Manager, joined the City of Farmington Hills Management Team in late 2007. He has a diverse set of responsibilities including special projects, policy research and development, and legislative affairs. He functions as a liaison to residents, helping to resolve citizen concerns and promote City initiatives. Nate is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University with a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. He has served in municipal government since 2005 and was previously employed by the cities of Brighton and Berkley.

Nancy Cappola

Director of Economic Development

Nancy Cappola joined the City of Farmington Hills as the Director of Economic Development in February 2013. She previously worked as the Vice President of Business Development for North Star Advisors, a private equity firm in Bloomfield Hills. Prior to that, Ms. Cappola worked at Wayne State University’s Research and Technology Park, where she developed the international “Soft Landings” business initiative, a program of the National Business Incubator Association. She also served as a Deputy Director of Business Development for Wayne County’s Department of Economic Development, where she directed the New Markets Tax Credit Program.

Nancy has more than 20 years of experience in the fields of real estate and banking, and is a real estate broker in her home state of New York. She is a member of the National Association for Business Economics (NABE) and is a Board member of City Connect Detroit. In 2011, she was appointed to the Urban Land Institute’s National Advisory Panel, which advises communities on redevelopment strategies.
