CITY MAJOR ROAD PROJECTS

10 Mile Road (Between Farmington Road and Orchard Lake Road)
This project is well underway and the final layer of pavement has been installed. The installation of a new traffic signal at the Power Road intersection is ongoing as well as restoration throughout the entire project limits. 10 Mile Road will be closed to through traffic but local traffic will be maintained to accommodate access to properties within the job limits. This project is on schedule to be substantially complete and open to traffic this week.

Farmington Road (Between 10 Mile Road and 12 Mile Road)
This project is underway and includes the reconstruction and resurfacing of the pavement, installation of a sidewalk on the east side of Farmington Road from Ridgewood north to 11 Mile, and the installation of water main and sanitary sewer in several locations that currently do not have these utilities. Farmington Road will be closed to through traffic, local traffic will be maintained in a one-way southbound direction only to accommodate access to properties within the job limits as well as Heritage Park. A detour route is posted to direct motorists around the project. This project is scheduled to be substantially complete and open to traffic in mid-September.

11 Mile Road (From Inkster Road to 2,200 feet East)
This City of Southfield Resurfacing Project is scheduled to start the week of August 18, 2014. Traffic on 11 Mile Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction during construction. Access to the adjacent properties will be maintained at all times; however the road will be closed to thru traffic for a portion of the project. For further information with respect to this project, you may contact Leigh Schultz at the City of Southfield at 248-796-4812.

ROAD COMMISSION FOR OAKLAND COUNTY (RCOC)

Middlebelt Road, between Northwestern Highway and 14 Mile Road
This project entails installation of a right turn lane on northbound Middlebelt Road near Hillel Day School. Middlebelt will remain open to two-way traffic but construction will require lane closures as well as flagging operations as necessary.

14 Mile Road at the east side of Northwestern Highway
There will be continuous lane closures on Northwestern Highway near 14 Mile Road for the duration of this project. 14 Mile Road is closed on the east side of the intersection with Northwestern Highway as of the morning of August 8. This RCOC project includes reconstruction and realignment of the east leg of the intersection and is the first phase of the larger 14 Mile/Orchard Lake/Northwestern Highway “triangle” project. The detour route for through traffic will be Middlebelt Road to Northwestern Highway and back to 14 Mile and vice versa. This phase of the project is scheduled for completion by November 15.
