Emergency
Management
If a local disaster were to occur, the City of
Farmington Hills is ready. By City Ordinance and Michigan law, we are
required to maintain an Emergency Operations Plan. If the Mayor were to
declare a “State of Emergency,” the Plan would immediately go into
effect and an Emergency Operations Center would be set up to provide
assistance and directions to the “first responders” and citizens.
The
Emergency Operations Center (EOC) provided water and supplies to
citizens during the blackout in August, 2003. Since then, the EOC team
has staged several small- and large-scale emergency training exercises
to test our plans.
While the City is working hard to ensure that it is
prepared in the event of a disaster, we encourage families and
businesses to be prepared to take care of themselves until help can
arrive. Information on how you can prepare your family or business is
available through the Farmington Hills Fire Department or on the
Federal Emergency
Management Agency or America Red Cross websites.
