Youth Theatre
In 2003, the Cultural Arts Division formed the Farmington Hills Youth
Theatre in cooperation with Sky’s the Limit Productions. The Youth
Theatre draws children in the hundreds to take part into performances
and, classes and summer camps. The Youth Theatre’s musical productions
were seen by over 4,000 adults and school children in 2006, via public
performance and an extensive school outreach program. The Youth Theatre
draws its instructors from an area acting company and is also supported
by a local community theatre groups. It has been highly praised by
parents who testify that the experience has fostered invaluable quality
of self-esteem, teamwork and skills in their children, and is open to
actors in all skill levels, from beginning to experiences. One show a
year is also open to adults.
Performances have included "Alice in Wonderland," "Annie, Jr.," "Guys
and Dolls," "Honk, Jr.," "Retrovision" and "The Wonderful World of Oz."
In addition, theatre classes are also offered through the Cultural
Arts Division that include acting for beginners, kindergarteners, and
improv. A wonderful theatre camp is offered at the Farmington
Players Barn Theatre each summer, with various sessions for different
ages.
