If you’re the parent of a middle school student between the ages of
11 and 15, the Youth Center is the perfect place for your kids to enjoy
a safe, fun, exciting and well-supervised environment after school
between 2:00 PM and 5:30 PM. The program is free and open to all
Farmington Hills and Farmington residents.
The Youth & Family Services Division has been operating Youth Centers
at four sites throughout our community for almost five years. To date,
more than 2,200 students have participated. Throughout its history, our
program has served as a national model of innovation.
From late August through early June, our members participate in a
wide variety of fun and educational activities, from ping-pong to pool,
ice skating to swimming, games, talent shows, first aid classes,
drug/alcohol/tobacco prevention programs, theater workshops,
inter-generational activities with the Senior Center, educational
tutoring and much more. Every day, more than 200 kids participate.
Members also help create and implement new programs, developing their
leadership skills.
Our partnership with the Farmington Public Schools enables Youth
Center members to take a free “Youth Center Bus” from each of the middle
schools to the centers of their choice:
- Costick Activities Center, 28600 West 11 Mile Road.
- Farmington Family YMCA, 28100 Farmington Road.
- Farmington Hills Ice Arena, 35500 Eight Mile Road.
- Warner Middle School, 30303 West 11 Mile Road.
