About
Energy and environmental sustainability has been thrust into
the limelight in recent years due to rising energy costs,
national security concerns, the global climate change debate,
population patterns and many other reasons. Local governments
are in a unique position to address these challenges. In
addition, through the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block
Grant Program (EECBG), many local governments have been given
access to a limited pool of resources to dedicate to this
effort. Although these challenges are of a global scope, much
can be done on the local level to have a positive impact and
address these challenges head on.
Think globally.
Act locally.
SustainableFH.com is a public information effort funded through
the EECBG program designed to help share information and
inspire/expand energy and environmentally sustainable practices
throughout all sectors of our community. This site provides
users with information regarding the City’s sustainability
efforts and valuable resources and tools that can be implemented
on an individual level. Whether you live in one of our
multi-family complexes, own a 1000 square foot home or a 2500
square foot home, own or work at one of many great Farmington
Hills businesses, or live and work outside of our community,
there are steps large and small that we all can take to build a
more energy efficient, energy independent, and environmentally
sustainable city, region, state, nation, and world.
Please enjoy this site and

City Council in scope and membership. Today the focus is to
cultivate a more sustainable community not only through its
recommendations to City leaders, but also through community
education and engagement in energy and environmental issues.
