Job Description:

Building Assistant - $12.00-$14.00 hr. (20-28 hours per week, flexible schedule)
Under the direction of the Facility Coordinator, oversees the day to day operations of assigned Special Services facilities. Rotating schedule throughout different facility spaces as needed. Responsible for timely event and program set-up and tear-down. Assists with general maintenance, facility cleanliness, and enforces all facility rules and regulations. Oversees building security, surveillance, and logistics. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Customer service experience preferred and experience with maintenance and work order systems desirable.

Healthy Living Coach – $12.00-$14.00 hr. (10+ hours per week)
Under the direction of the Farmington Hills Special Services Health and Fitness Coordinator, the Healthy Living Coach will collect payments for programs/services at the fitness center/front desk, check-in names of participants, fill out forms and enforce rules of fitness area. Also responsible for facilitating member involvement and relationship building, and monitoring activities in the Fitness Center. Assisting members with questions and concerns, providing equipment/facility orientations, goal setting, and educating pass holders on Hawk Personal/Small Group Training options. In addition, this position is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, organization, and safety of the Fitness Center and surrounding areas. Healthy Living Coaches are responsible for exemplifying professionalism, serving as a resource for members and guests and providing excellent customer service.  In depth understanding of exercise, fitness industry standards and equipment. Personal/Small Group/Group Exercise Certification recommended. Basic first aid and CPR (adult, child & infant) Certification preferred, training will be provided. Excellent customer service skills. Good communication and organizational skills required. Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office, Internet and Social Media required.  Degree in Fitness field recommended. Personal Training or Small Group Training or Group Exercise Certification recommended.  High School graduate.
 
Group Exercise Instructor – Starting at $17.00 hr. (12 +/- hours per week)
Under the direction of the Farmington Hills Special Services Health and Fitness Coordinator, the Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for the preparation, planning and instruction of assigned group exercise classes, facilitating member involvement and relationship building, assisting in the development of member small group communities, and providing excellent customer service.  Group Exercise Instructors are responsible for exemplifying professionalism and leadership in the areas of fitness and exercise and serving as a resource for staff and members.  Understanding of implementing/designing workouts in the Fitness/Training Industry.  Degree in Fitness field recommended. Small Group/Group Exercise Certification required.  High School graduate.
 
Small Group Trainer – Starting at $18.00 hr. (10 +/- hours per week)
Under the direction of the Farmington Hills Special Services Health and Fitness Coordinator, the Small Group Trainer is responsible for the preparation, planning and instruction of assigned Small Group classes, facilitating member involvement and relationship building, assisting in the development of member small group communities, and providing excellent customer service. Certified Small Group Trainers are responsible for exemplifying professionalism and leadership in the areas of fitness and exercise and serving as a resource for staff and members. In addition, this position is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, organization, and safety of the Fitness Center.  Understanding of designing and implementing small group training.  Degree in Fitness field recommended. Personal Training or Small Group Training or Group Exercise Certification required.  High School graduate.
 
Certified Personal Trainer – Starting at $19.00 hr. (10+/- hours per week)
Under the direction of the Farmington Hills Special Services Health and Fitness Coordinator, the Certified Personal Trainer is responsible for developing individualized, goal-oriented training plans, conducting personal training sessions, facilitating member involvement and relationship building, and providing excellent customer service.  Signing clients up, collecting payments, scheduling, keeping accurate training records (completed sessions, cancellations, rescheduling, etc.) required for this position. Certified Personal Trainers are responsible for exemplifying professionalism and leadership in the areas of fitness, exercise, and basic rehabilitation techniques.  Understanding of implementing/designing workouts in the Fitness/Training Industry.  Personal Training experience with certification.  Degree in Fitness field recommended.  High School graduate.
 
Hawk’s Nest Aide – $9.87-$10.37 hr. (5-30 hours per week, some evenings and weekends)
Under the direction of the Hawk's Nest Leader, this position will provide operational functions before, during, and after HAWK’s NEST open hours. Assist with site set-up and clean-up. Keep actuate logs and follow all safety protocol. Interact directly with children, caretakers, and supervisors.  Superior customer service skills. Upon hire, completion of First Aid and CPR certification is required. Strong situational awareness, self-motivation, teamwork, organizational, and communication skills required.  Experience working with children in a babysitting setting. Education classes or experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field preferred.  Must be at least 16 years of age.
 
Hawk’s Nest Leader – $10.50-$11.55 hr. (5-30 hours per week, some evenings and weekends)
Provide a safe, fun, and inviting environment for participants in Hawk’s Nest areas. Ensure the health, safety and well-being of children in the program by providing close supervision of all activities. Effectively develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans daily.  Superior customer service skills. Upon hire, completion of First Aid and CPR certification is required. Strong situational awareness, self-motivation, teamwork, organizational, and communication skills required.  Experience working with children in a babysitting setting. Education classes or experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field preferred.  High School graduate plus some college experience preferred.
 
Lifeguard
– $12.00 (5-28 hours per week)
Identifies and works to prevent potential accidents. Enforces all facility rules. Responds quickly and decisively and in accordance with established emergency and accident procedures. Administers first aid and CPR as required. Interacts and communicates effectively with other lifeguards, as required. Assists patrons in a positive and professional manner. Communicates effectively with staff and patrons. Attends all mandatory monthly staff trainings. Assists with member questions, tours, cleaning, and other facility tasks as needed.  Ability to pass or possess current Lifeguard Certification.  Good communication and organizational skills required. Ideal applicant is self-motivated and enjoys working with children. Previous Lifeguarding experience preferred. Must be at least 15 years of age.
 
Swim Instructor
– $12.00 hr. (5-28 hours per week)
Organizes and teaches swim lessons to Preschool and Youth aged students following the Swim Lesson program curriculum. Maintains accurate attendance and progress report logs for all assigned students. Attends all mandatory monthly staff trainings. Lifeguards the pool as needed if certified and willing. Assists with tours, cleaning, and other facility tasks as needed. Provide safe environment for swimmers and enforce pool rules.  Track participant progress and communicate to families of participants. Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification and Lifeguard Certification preferred.  Ability to teach swimming groups of various age and skill level participants.  Some experience in swim lesson instruction preferred.  Must be at least 15 years of age.
 
Aquatic Coordinator – $15.00 hr. (28 hours per week, mostly afternoons and evenings)
Oversees and manages swim lesson program and staff. Responds to all on-site emergencies. Assists in staff scheduling. Organizes and teaches swim lessons to Preschool and Youth aged students following the Swim Lesson program curriculum as needed. Schedules and instructs all mandatory monthly staff trainings for lifeguards and swim instructors. Answers member questions. Provide tours, cleaning, and other facility tasks as needed.  Coaching or management background preferred. Some swimming background required including but not limited to any of the following; WSI, swim team, swim club, avid swimmer, coaching, swim lessons or other formal training. Excellent communication and organizational skills required. Ideal applicant is self-motivated and enjoys working with children. Must obtain Lifeguard Certification within 3 months (will provide training).  Three or more years of aquatics experience with emphasis on management of pool operations, lifeguarding and swim instruction.  High school graduate.
 
Aquatic Programmer
– $18.00 hr. (28 hours per week, mostly afternoons and evenings)
Oversees and manages aquatic facility programs, staff and payroll. Maintains pool chemistry and accurate reporting. Completes basic pool maintenance tasks. Handles all on-site emergencies. Assists in staff scheduling. Organizes/coordinates/instructs all aquatic programming. Schedules and instructs all mandatory monthly staff trainings for lifeguards and swim instructors. Answers member questions. Provides tours, cleaning, and assist in other facility tasks as needed.  Three or more years of aquatics experience with emphasis on management of pool operations, lifeguarding and swim instruction.  Prior management experience helpful. Prior pool maintenance experience preferred.  High school graduate.
 
Custodian
– $12.00-$14.00 hr. (25+ hours per week, Monday-Sunday, work schedule: late evening to early morning with some flexibility on shift hours)Ensures spaces are prepared for each day by taking out trash, tidying furniture and dusting surfaces. Sweeps and mops floors and vacuums carpets. Washes and sanitizes toilets, sinks and showers and restock disposables (e.g. soap). Wipes mirrors and windows. Reports major damages using an on-line work order system. Secures facilities after operating hours by locking doors, closing windows and setting up the alarm. Responsible for organization and maintenance of custodial closets. Inspects and maintains assigned custodial equipment and small tools for proper operating condition. Attends all mandatory staff trainings. Assists with other facility tasks as needed. Must be able to lift 20lbs. Knowledge in use of power equipment helpful.  Able to drive city vehicle between various sites. Requires valid Michigan Driver’s license and good driving record. Able to work without direct supervision and prepare written reports
on work performed.  Previous custodial/janitorial experience helpful.  High school graduate.  Must be at least 18 years of age.
 
Concession Attendant – $9.87-$10.37 hr. (15-28 hours per week, nights and weekends required)
Responsible for concessions, handling cash, using computers, light lifting, and cleaning. Operates POS system, including the proper handling of and responsibility for accuracy of cash drawer. Operates, prepares and cleans all concession related equipment. Complies with all local, state and federal food safety laws. Assists with all opening and closing procedures.  Upon hire, Serve Safe Certification required.  Previous experience in the food industry preferred, but not required.  Must be at least 16 years of age.
 
Makerspace Aide
– $9.87-$10.37 hr. (16-24 hours per week, Monday-Saturday, AM/PM shifts, as-needed)
Assist Cultural Arts Makerspace staff with program and membership needs such as greeting members and students; membership check-in; general clerical duties; data entry including, but not limited to class registration and membership renewals; answering and returning phone calls; maintaining a clean and welcoming entrance to the Makerspace.  Other duties as assigned.  This is a detail-oriented position requiring the ability to multi-task and work with a variety of staff and volunteers. Must work well individually and as part of a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suit preferred. Skilled at public contact over the phone and in person. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Experience managing multiple tasks, meeting deadlines, and maintaining electronic and paper record-keeping systems.  Experience working with the public in a studio/workshop setting. Interest in and experience in the arts preferred.  High School graduate preferred. 
 
Makerspace Technician
– $14.00-$16.00 hr. (20-24 hours per week, Monday-Saturday, AM/PM shifts, as needed)
Develop and implement tool maintenance procedures. Repair and improve equipment when possible. Fabricate and install items for shop or department use. Assist in production of Standard Operating Procedures for user operation and other processes around the shop. Develop and implement tool-onboarding processes. Assist in developing and delivering instruction. Answer member questions. Tours, cleaning, and other tasks as needed.  Knowledge and experience using 3D CAD and other software fabrication tools. Must possess outstanding customer service skills, including excellent written and oral communication.  Experience using, maintaining, and repairing wood, metal, plastic, and textile tools, both manual and Computer Numeric Control (CNC) tools.
