Exhibits / Public Art Program
The City of Farmington Hills boasts several locations for visual art exhibits, including the City Hall Public Art Program and Rotating Exhibits Gallery at the Farmington Hills City Hall, the exhibit halls of The Hawk, Plein Air Artist Gallery at the Heritage Park Nature Center and the Farmington Artists Club Gallery, located in Hallway C of the Costick Center.
Exhibits are continuously changing, and feature both local and touring artists and exhibits in many media. The galleries are open during regular business hours and during special events. For more information, call the Cultural Arts Division at 248-699-6709.
City of Farmington Hills Public Art Program
The City of Farmington Hills, believing strongly in the value of the arts, created the Public Art Program in 2010 to enhance the newly renovated Farmington Hills City Hall. The exhibit delights visitors, employees and dignitaries alike with thought-provoking and enjoyable artworks in glass, painting, pottery, wood, fiber, photography, sculpture and mixed media. During the two-year duration of each program, there are exciting on-site events which coincide with the exhibit, providing more exposure with local art collectors and businesses.
This latest exhibit is the seventh phase in the City’s Public Art Program and features work from 64 talented artists from Farmington Hills and surrounding communities. The City gratefully acknowledges the artists who have so generously loaned their work to further enhance the atmosphere of City Hall for visitors and employees. Most of the work is available for sale; the prices and details of the pieces are listed in the Artist Guides below.
Both collections are open: Monday-Friday, 8:30AM - 4:30PM

Literary Arts Opportunity
- NEW IN 2024-25: The Cultural Arts Division, with support from the Farmington Area Arts Commission, is pleased to introduce an inaugural literary component to the Public Art Program which will explore the relationship between visual and written expression. Being witness to visual art is not a static experience, but rather an ongoing conversation between the artist, the viewer, the writer, and the wider community.
We encourage you to reflect on the diverse collection of individual works of art in this two-year exhibition and use them as inspiration for bringing your words to paper. Be it a stirring poem, an evocative short story, or any other form of literary artistry such as song lyrics or essays, this is an opportunity to showcase your talent and contribute to our vibrant cultural arts scene! We envision this project evolving into a compelling collection of written works, encapsulating the diverse voices of our community. Be part of this unique journey and let your words leave a lasting imprint!
