A Year in Review at The Hawk Makerspace
A Year in Review at The Hawk Makerspace

Introduction
The New Year is a perfect time to sit back with loved ones and reflect on the year that’s passed. Our team at The Hawk Makerspace has been reminiscing on all the fantastic things we did with you in 2025! We wanted to thank our Passholders, students, and everyone who visited. It’s because of YOU that this year was fantastic.
Highlights
Our fun-filled 2025 really got its start in March, when we replaced our Graphtec with a Cricut Venture. The Venture has provided much more versatility and ease of use than our previous vinyl cutter!
April was an especially busy month for us- we officially started The Hawk Makerspace blog and also kicked off our free Monthly Maker Meet-up series with a demonstration of the Cricut Venture. You were all busy in April, too- as that month was our second highest recorded month of visits for the year!

June was another busy month! We finished constructing our Passholder Lounge, complete with a couch and a handcrafted coffee table. We got to visit with so many community members at our Art on the Grand booth and then participated in The Hawk’s annual Kick Off to Summer event the following week. These two events were a really great way for us to welcome summer.
We introduced our very first Hawk Makerspace summer camps in 2025: Camp Sew & So and STEAM Discover Camp welcomed thirty 10-12 year olds for three weeks of STEAM educational concepts, exploration, and all-around fun. These camps were so successful that we’ll be offering a whole summer of Hawk Makerspace camps in 2026 with new camp options added into the mix!
After many months of hard work, we finally got our donated Direct-to-Garment printer up and running in August! To celebrate we hosted a T-shirt design contest for our staff, with Caleb as the winning designer. Nick D. used the DTG to print the staff shirts in house, and we were thrilled to wear the yellow tees for our 3rd Anniversary Open House in September! The open house was a ton of fun, and we loved being able to celebrate that milestone with everyone who attended.

As we approached the holiday season, in November and December, we helped you craft for a cause through our second annual Crafted in Kindness Challenge. To help keep some of our community’s seniors warm this winter season, this challenge collected handmade hats, mittens, and more. With your help, we more than doubled last year’s handmade donations! We love that we know December hosts more users than any other month as you visit us as a resource to help you in the making of your holiday gifts. December 2025 marked our single highest month of visits – ever! We saw you come up with ideas and use The Hawk Makerspace to help you make memorable gifts infused with your love, time and energy. We’re so honored to have been a part of that creative journey with you.
By The Numbers
We thought it would be fun to share some of our end-of-year numbers with you all! We ended up with a total of...
· 3,269,107 stitches embroidered
· 1,177 passholder visits
· 387 checkout courses completed
· 201 students in classes and workshops
· 46 handmade hats and mittens donated
· 30 kids in summer camps
· 23 saw blades replaced
· And a partridge in a pear tree!

What Comes Next?
We look forward to seeing what you’ll make at The Hawk Makerspace in 2026! What are your creative maker goals for the New Year? We’re excited to support you in making them happen.
We have a large variety of classes and workshops planned for adults, youth, and families – registration is open for all January-May programs. We are also introducing a new series of youth and tween workshops during this time.
Don’t forget our free Monthly Maker Meetups on the first Saturday of each month from 12:00-2:00 pm. Each month we do a different demonstration, skill-building session, or hands-on project and these are great ways to get to know your local maker community. We’d love to see you there – and invite your friends!
If you’re looking for a project, feel free to browse the Bridging Project Menu; our technicians put together a compilation of comprehensive how-to guides for their favorite projects so you can take off running once you’re checked out on any of our machines! You could even request one of them to work through a project with you during a Tech 1:1 consultation. If you have a class idea, or any questions for our team at The Hawk Makerspace, feel free to reach out to makerspace@fhgov.com.
We are looking forward to another year of growth and evolution as a makerspace! Thank you for being a part of our maker community. To ring in 2026, stop in and mention this blog post between now and February 1st, 2026, for 10% off your next Checkout Course!
