An Oakland County dog license is required for all dogs four months of age or older, and a dog license must be purchased within 30 days of:
- A puppy turning four months of age or
- A dog moving into Farmington Hills
The following are required in order to obtain a dog license:
- Proof of rabies vaccination (must show dog owner’s name and address)
- Proof of neutering (in order to receive a neutered/spayed fee discount)

Pet licenses are required for all dogs living in Oakland County, MI. Licenses are available for 1- or 3-year terms and must be renewed prior to the expiration date. You will receive reminders from DocuPet about upcoming license expirations via mail, phone, and email.
