The constant stream of social media can make the world feel vast and abstract, leaving little room for interpersonal interaction. Our team at The Hawk Makerspace is all about bridging gaps and finding creative solutions, so we went to work brainstorming ways we could help you make these vital connections! Our answer: Monthly Maker Meet-ups.

 

Introduction  

Fostering community through creativity is one of our biggest goals at The Hawk Makerspace, and we thought there would be no better way to do this than connecting members of our community with each other! We love to get to know everyone who comes into the makerspace and find ourselves asking the following questions:

·         What inspires and motivates your creativity?  

·         What intimidates or challenges your creativity?

·         Who do you troubleshoot with and bounce ideas off?

The Monthly Maker Meet-ups provide the perfect setting and opportunity for us to learn more about each other and make the connections for inspiration, growth, and problem solving. Keep reading to find out what they have to offer!

 

What is Monthly Maker Meet-up?

Each Monthly Maker Meet-up is a time for creatives and makers to get together and chat, ask for advice, show off your projects, learn something new, and share a free cup of coffee (or tea) with some new friends. We have so many amazing makers who use our space, and we thought it would be awesome to get everyone together and introduce like-minded creatives- thus, Monthly Maker Meet-up was born.

 

Who Is Maker Meet-up For?

Whether you are a seasoned maker, or someone who is interested in the idea of making things- we encourage you to come to our Monthly Maker Meet-ups! You do not have to be a Hawk Makerspace student or passholder to attend. No matter your level of experience or background, there is always a chance to learn something new or to see an inspirational project! It’s also a great time to ask our team any questions you might have about The Hawk Makerspace and all we have to offer. We can even demo some of our machines for you during Monthly Maker Meet-ups. Our space is a creative home to designers, woodworkers, sewists, weavers, printers, and more. The only thing it’s missing is YOU!

Why You Should Come to a Maker Meet-up

Other than the prospect of free tea, coffee, and (sometimes) baked goods, there are a ton of reasons to come to our Meet-ups! Whether you’re looking to get advice on a project and brainstorm ideas or looking to see what others are making and enjoy social interactions with likeminded creatives – there is something for everyone! Don’t be surprised when we pull out some hands-on crafts during the Meet-ups. Last time we made buttons and had tons of fun to break the ice!

To sweeten the deal, even though attending a Monthly Maker Meet-up is completely free, we are pleased to offer half-off Makerspace Day Passes during the event. 

 

Monthly Maker Meet-up is held on the first Saturday of each month from 12pm to 2pm at The Hawk Makerspace. However, this month’s edition of Monthly Maker Meet-up will be held on June 14th as we have a booth at Art on the Grand on the 7^th!
