Summer is when the City of Farmington Hills really shines! With activities and opportunities for people of all ages, interests and abilities, you’re sure to find summer fun without going far.
Here are seven suggestions for summer 2025!
1. Enroll your kid in an Unplugged Summer Camp

If you have kids, the City of Farmington Hills has something to keep them busy and enriched all summer long! Whether they love music, theatre, the outdoors or sports, the City of Farmington Hills Unplugged Summer Camps has something for every kind of kid. They’ll make new friends, discover new places, gain self-confidence and, maybe most importantly, they’ll be off their devices! Many camps even offer before and after care for busy parents. Camps are filling fast, but there are still plenty of options available!

2. Explore thousands of works of art at ART on the GRAND
Saturday, June 7 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Grand River Avenue from Grove Street to Farmington Road
You’re sure to find something that will catch your eye at ART on the GRAND, the annual art fair hosted by the City of Farmington Hills Special Services Department with the Farmington Downtown Development Authority. ART on the GRAND features more than 100 approachable artists, who offer works across varying price ranges and disciplines including ceramics, jewelry, painting, photography, wood, wearable art, glass, sculpture, printmaking and more. The art fair is known for its walkable location that spans a quarter mile stretch of Grand River Avenue in downtown Farmington and its friendly environment that welcomes over 40,000 art lovers annually. There’s also Kids Art Alley with 45 youth artists selling their creations and plenty of activities for the whole family in the KidZone, including activities with the Detroit Institute of Arts. Admission and parking are always free!

3. Savor the sounds of summer during the Free Summer Concert Series
Select dates, beginning Thursday, June 12 and continuing through August.

From classical to contemporary, you can hear it all for FREE this summer in Farmington Hills during the City’s Free Summer Concert Series. The series starts Thursday, June 12 and continues throughout the summer. The whole family is invited—including the little ones—with some events held in The Hawk Theatre and some outside at the Heritage Park Amphitheater. Be sure to check the location before you go!
The first show of the season is the Jai Ho Indian Music and Dance Celebration on Thursday, June 12 at 5:30 p.m. at The Hawk Theatre Mainstage during Kickoff 2 Summer. All other performances in the Free Summer Concert Series will begin at 7 p.m.
4. Celebrate the start of the season at Kickoff 2 Summer

Kickoff 2 Summer is fun for the whole family all in one place! On Thursday, June 12, The Hawk will transform into an immersive summer celebration for community members of all ages. Play on the bouncers, check out the new multi-sport simulator, compete in a fitness obstacle course and more. When Kickoff 2 Summer ends, head outside to the football field to watch a free screening of Moana 2 under the stars.
5. Visit Heritage Park for a day full of summer fun

Hit the trails, tour the Farmington Hills Nature Center or cool down on the Splash Pad. It’s so easy to enjoy a whole day at Heritage Park in Farmington Hills. This impressive park has nearly four miles of hiking and walking trails through wooded areas that are rich with wildlife and native plants. Before you step onto the trails, be sure to visit the Heritage Park Nature Center to learn about the birds, plants and other wildlife you’ll see along your walk. The Nature Center is free to visit and is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Then, after you’ve worked up a sweat on your hike, head to the Heritage Park Splash Pad to cool down. The Splash Pad is free and open all summer from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. If you need space for a bigger group, the pavilions are for rent by calling (248) 699-6700.

6. Get a round in at the Farmington Hills Golf Club

There’s nothing better than a beautiful day on a beautiful golf course and the Farmington Hills Golf Club is top tier. Not feeling up to a full 18, or even just 9? Grab a bucket of balls and hit the driving range! After that, fuel up at The Pines restaurant with a cold drink and a hot meal. You might even consider joining a league or signing yourself (or your kid!) up for golf lessons.
7. Test your sports skills at Founders Sports Park

It’s in the name. Founders Sports Park is sports central and it has all the stuff you’d expect: places to play soccer, baseball or softball, basketball, and even volleyball. But this park has SO much more! There’s a fishing pier on a pristine pond, a skate park for practicing kickflips, a nine-hole disc golf course, a bocce ball court and a shuffleboard court. If it’s too hot out, spend some time on skates at the Farmington Hills Ice Arena where it’s always a cool 55 degrees.
