Property Inspection Information
Annual Reappraisal and Inspection Information
The assessing department annually inspects property to update the assessment records for properties within the City of Farmington Hills. An inspection of your property may be required due to permits being pulled, for sales verification purposes or a neighborhood reappraisal.
Reappraisal inspections follow the State Tax Commission guideline for a regular reappraisal that ensures our records are up to date and accurate. Residential neighborhood reappraisal property owners will be mailed a notification with a property verification form that owners need to complete and return by the requested deadline within the letter. If this survey has not been returned prior to the site inspection, the appraiser will confirm the information at the door. If no one is available, we request that you call the number on the door tag to verify the information with the appraiser as soon as possible. A copy of the form and letter are available at the link below.
Assessing Department staff conduct property inspections throughout the year and will arrive in a marked city vehicle, wearing clothing with the city logo and a picture I.D. badge for you to verify their authenticity. The appraiser will knock on your door to let you know they are there.
Commercial and Industrial property will also be visited as part of our annual personal property canvass. New business owners should make sure their information is provided by completing the new business information form which can be found under the forms tab.
Please feel free to contact our office if you have any questions or concerns regarding property inspections.
