The city of Southfield will host the Dangers of Synthetic Drugs Community Forum on Wednesday, July 23 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in the Southfield Pavilion, 26000 Evergreen Road.

The forum will feature an insightful conversation between four local law enforcement leaders as they address how to eliminate the dangers of synthetic drugs and human trafficking. Forum participants include:

  • Farmington Hills Police Chief John Piggott
  • Southfield Police Chief Elvin Barren
  • Oak Park Police Director Steve Cooper
  • Oakland County Undersheriff Timothy Willis

“The spread of synthetic drugs in our community is a serious and growing concern,” commented Southfield Police Chief Elvin Barren. “These substances are not only highly dangerous but often unpredictable, leading to devastating consequences for individuals and families. Our department is committed to educating the public, enforcing the law, and collaborating with community leaders to combat this threat.”

The forum will be moderated by former Channel 7 News Investigative Reporter Ronnie Dahl. The community is invited to participate in this roundtable discussion where the public will be encouraged to provide insight and ideas to address the dangers of synthetic drugs and human trafficking.
