Farmington Hills Trash Collection Delayed by One Day the Last Week of 2025, First Week of 2026 Due to Holidays
The City of Farmington Hills Department of Public Services Division of Public Works is reminding residents that garbage and recycling collection is delayed by one day during the last week of December 2025 and the first week of January 2026 for community members whose regular collection day is Thursday through Friday.
Collection on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of those weeks will happen as regularly scheduled without any changes. There will be no collection on Thursday, Dec. 25 and Thursday, Jan. 1 due to the holidays. Thursday and Friday pickup during these two weeks will be delayed by one day. Please have garbage at the curbside by 7 a.m.
Paper-based holiday cards and wrapping paper may be placed in your recycling cart; however, any items with glitter or metallic decorations are not recyclable and should be thrown away with the trash. Bows, ribbon, cellophane wrapping, foam packing, wires, loose plastic parts, ornaments and strings of holiday lights are not recyclable. Aluminum holiday cookie tins and lids may go in the recycling cart. Christmas trees placed at the curbside will be collected with the regular trash.
