Beverly Hills, MI — The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC), in partnership with the cities of Farmington Hills and Novi, will host a public information meeting on Thursday, Nov. 13, about two planned 2026/2027 projects on 12 Mile Road in the two cities.

The meeting will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the HAWK, 29995 West 12 Mile Road, Farmington Hills, in the Harrison Hall meeting room. It will be an open-house format — there will not be a formal presentation, but anyone interested can stop in at any time during the meeting to review plans or discuss the project with RCOC staff.

The first project, 12 Mile Road from east of Orchard Lake Road to Autumn Ridge Road in Farmington Hills, is expected to start in the summer of 2026 and conclude in the fall of the same year. The approximately

$3.4 million project will be paid for with federal funds and contributions from RCOC, Farmington Hills and Oakland County general government (through the Tri-Party Program).

The project includes:

·         Milling (grinding off existing pavement) and repaving with asphalt.

·         Reconstructing select side-street approaches.

·         Repairing curb and gutters.

·         Installing Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant crosswalks.

·         Upgrading SMART bus stops.

·         Modernizing traffic signals at the 12 Mile Road/Middlebelt Road intersection.

      ·         Relocating utilities (expected to take place in the winter/spring of 2025/2026 with lane closures).

During construction, one lane in each direction on this section of 12 Mile will remain open to traffic. Access to homes and businesses will be maintained.

This section of 12 Mile Road carries approximately 26,000 vehicles daily.

The City of Farmington Hills will also be working on Halsted Road, from 12 Mile Road to 14 Mile Road, in 2026, and RCOC and the city are coordinating the two projects.
