47th District Court Implements MiFILE Electronic Filing System

Electronic filing to begin Thursday, Nov. 13 for civil cases

Farmington Hills, Mich. (Nov. 6, 2025) – Beginning Thursday, Nov. 13, the 47th District Court Civil Division, which serves the Cities of Farmington Hills and Farmington, will join more than 100 courts across Michigan in adopting MiFILE. MiFILE is the statewide electronic filing system sponsored by the Michigan Supreme Court and the State Court Administrative Office. The modernized system provides attorneys and self-represented litigants with 24/7 access to submit and serve legal documents electronically, eliminating the need for in-person visits to the courthouse.

“Moving to MiFILE will improve efficiency for both filers and court employees,” said 47th District Court Administrator Matt Friedrich. “MiFILE has been tested across the state and has proven to be a convenient, effective and reliable alternative to in-person filing.”

Once live, parties can file any new civil action in the 47th District Court, as well as file to any existing civil case, from a computer or mobile device. All attorneys will be required to e-file civil filings into the 47th District Court as required by Michigan Court Rule 1.109(G)(3)(f).

Filers can learn more about MiFILE on Michigan’s One Court of Justice Filer Information page, or by reading the MiFILE Quick Reference Guide.  Video tutorials demonstrating the e-filing process are available on the MiFILE YouTube Channel.
