Hawk Makerspace Celebrates Four-Year Anniversary with Free Community Open House
The City of Farmington Hills will mark four years of creativity and learning with a Makerspace Anniversary Open House on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The free event takes place at the Hawk, located at 29995 W. 12 Mile Road in Farmington Hills.
The anniversary event invites makers, hobbyists, families and anyone interested in the Makerspace to attend. Attendees can take part in hands‑on activities, watch equipment demonstrations, enjoy refreshments and enter to win prizes. Guests will also have the opportunity to learn about Makerspace Passholder options and explore the wide range of equipment available for community use.
The Hawk Makerspace is a 5,000‑square‑foot shared community space that includes a dedicated woodshop and a fully equipped craft lab with professional‑quality tools. It offers beginners, experienced makers, hobbyists, crafters and entrepreneurs the chance to learn new skills, work on projects and collaborate with others.
Featured demonstrations during the open house include:
- Longarm Quilter - 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
- ShopBot CNC Router - Noon and 2 p.m.
Special Anniversary Pass Offer
To celebrate the anniversary, The Hawk Makerspace will offer a special incentive on monthly and annual Passes purchased during the Open House:
- Monthly Pass: The remainder of September is free, plus 50% off October.
- Annual Pass: Receive one additional month free for a total of 13 months of access.
- Daily Passes: Not included in the promotion.
The special offer coincides with reduced Makerspace Pass fees taking effect Sept. 1. Monthly and annual Passholders receive access to independent equipment use during Open Studio Hours, complimentary 3-Saws or Wide-Format Printing Checkout Courses, and reduced rates on additional Checkout Courses.
