The City of Farmington Hills Announces Ted Davis as new Director of Special Services
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. (June 2, 2026) — Following unanimous approval by city council, the City of Farmington Hills announces the appointment of Edward C. “Ted” Davis as director of Special Services. Davis will lead the department’s strategic direction and daily operations, including parks, recreation, facilities, aquatics, athletics, fitness, cultural programming, ice arena, golf course and other community services. He officially began his role Monday, June 1.
Davis brings more than 20 years of experience in municipal leadership, parks and recreation management, public administration and capital project oversight. He previously served as superintendent of Parks and Recreation for the City of Livonia, where he oversaw one of Michigan’s largest municipal recreation systems, including 66 park sites, recreation facilities, golf operations, senior services, historical properties and community programming that serves more than 3 million visitors annually.
“Ted brings inspiring leadership and a community-focused perspective that reinforces and elevates the City’s core values,” said Acting City Manager Karen Mondora. “His experience guiding large recreation systems and major capital projects will help strengthen our recreational offerings and further support the high quality of services community members expect.”
Davis also held leadership roles with the parks and recreation departments in West Bloomfield Township and Southfield. He is a lifelong Michigan resident with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Exercise and Health Science from Alma College. He and his wife, Melissa, have five children and recently became grandparents.
