City of Farmington Hills Earns Designation as a HEARTSafe Community
The City of Farmington Hills is proud to announce its official designation as a HEARTSafe Community, recognizing the City’s commitment to improving emergency response and increasing survival rates from sudden cardiac arrest. Farmington Hills has met all 13 HEARTSafe criteria, earning the distinction as one of only three municipalities in Michigan to reach the program's highest achievement.
The designation reflects the City’s proactive efforts to expand access to lifesaving tools and training throughout the community. Over the past year, Farmington Hills has trained nearly 15 percent of its population in CPR. More than 140 AED locations have been registered citywide, increasing access to publicly available automated external defibrillators. The City has also expanded CPR and AED training opportunities for residents and staff and strengthened coordination with local first responders and health partners to ensure rapid, effective response during cardiac emergencies.
“This recognition underscores our commitment to keeping residents and visitors safe,” said Acting City Manager Karen Mondora. “By investing in widespread preparedness and education, we’re making Farmington Hills a community where lifesaving action can happen anywhere, at any time.”
As a HEARTSafe Community, Farmington Hills will continue promoting community training opportunities, awareness campaigns and partnerships focused on heart health and emergency readiness. These efforts help ensure that anyone experiencing sudden cardiac arrest has the best possible chance of receiving immediate, lifesaving care before professional responders arrive.
